WORKSHOP I
Make a Decorative Lidded Box
or
A Tea light Box
3 hours / €55 - €75
DETAILS
This workshop is aimed at a small group of up to 4 people. No experience is necessary – its all about enjoying the creative process, and the experience of working with clay. I will guide you step-by-step. It's a relaxed atmosphere – some conversation – some music.... and as a ceramic artist originally from 'The Potteries', the workshop can also be given in English.
This workshop focuses on making either a decorative, lidded box, or a decorative candle box from clay slabs. Each box begins the same, but during the workshop, a decision can be made for which box you would like to make – the decoration will be adjusted accordingly.
TO GLAZE OR NOT TO GLAZE...
Towards the end of the workshop, you can make a decision to have the box glazed or not. If you would like your box to be glazed, there is an additional cost of €20 (cash or payconiq) to be paid during the workshop. I will glaze the box as required.
Option A – No Glaze: Your box will be fired to Stoneware temperature (1196⁰C) and have a white/cream colour, natural stoneware finish.
Option B – Glazed: Your box will be fired twice – first to bisque temperature (1000⁰C), and then a second glaze-firing to Stoneware temperature (1196⁰C) – a clear or coloured glaze.
TIMING
Ceramics is all about timing – before it can be fired in the kiln, it must be completely dry. Each box will be fired once or twice, depending on whether you choose to have it glazed or not. You will be notified through email as soon as it is ready for pick up – this can take up to 4 weeks.
Note: Ceramics can occassionally crack during the firing process.
